Elegant wedding bouquets featuring blush roses and greenery alongside formal attire.

Your wedding might be over, but receiving your photographs gives you a chance to experience plenty of it all over again.

There will be moments you remember clearly, but there will probably also be photographs of things you completely missed on the day. Reactions during the ceremony, conversations between guests or little moments you did not even realise I had photographed.

Once you have looked through your gallery for the first time, it is worth thinking about what you want to do with the photographs afterwards.

From making sure they are safely backed up to printing your favourites, here are eight things you can do with your wedding photographs after the wedding.

DOWNLOAD AND BACK UP YOUR PHOTOS

This is the first thing I recommend doing when you receive your finished gallery.

Download the full resolution versions of your photographs and save them somewhere safe rather than relying entirely on your online gallery. Ideally, keep them in more than one place, such as your computer or an external drive as well as a cloud service.

Make sure you download the full resolution photographs too. These are the versions you will want if you decide to make larger prints or create an album in the future.

When I deliver your gallery, you will be able to download your photographs directly from it. If you have any problems doing that, just let me know and I can help.

SHARE THEM WITH YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS

One of the nice things about an online gallery is being able to share your wedding photographs with the people who were there.

Your family and friends will probably enjoy finding photographs of themselves and moments they remember from the day. They might even spot things you completely missed.

You can share your gallery with them or send particular photographs individually if there are some you think somebody would especially love. It can also be a lovely way of sharing more of the day with people who were not able to be there.

PRINT YOUR FAVOURITES

There is something different about seeing photographs properly printed rather than only looking at them on a phone.

You do not need to print hundreds of them either. Choose a few favourites that mean something to you and find somewhere for them in your home.

Your favourites might not necessarily be the obvious photographs. It could be something from the ceremony, your grandparents laughing together, your friends on the dance floor or simply an image that takes you straight back to how that moment felt.

You could also give prints to parents, grandparents or other people close to you.

CREATE A WEDDING ALBUM

An album gives you a way of bringing the wedding together into one collection rather than looking at individual photographs separately.

It also gives some of the smaller moments a place alongside the big ones. Getting ready, reactions from guests, details from the venue, the ceremony, speeches and photographs from the evening can all help bring the day together.

You do not have to choose an album immediately either. Spending some time with your gallery can make it easier to work out which photographs mean the most to you.

You can create your own album, or if you would like help putting one together, you can always ask me about the album options available.

USE THEM FOR YOUR THANK YOU CARDS

If you are planning to send thank you cards after the wedding, your photographs are an easy way to make them more personal.

You could use one favourite photograph for everyone or choose different photographs for particular guests. For close family members, you might even have a photograph of them from the wedding that would work particularly well.

It is a simple way of putting some of your photographs to use soon after receiving them.

SHARE SOME WITH YOUR WEDDING SUPPLIERS

Your venue and suppliers will often love seeing the finished photographs too.

If your florist created something you loved, your cake maker produced an incredible cake or your venue looked particularly good, you might want to send them a few photographs showing how everything came together.

If you share photographs with your suppliers, please let them know they were photographed by Prince Takes Pictures so they can credit me if they share them online.

SHARE YOUR FAVOURITES ONLINE

Once you have had a proper look through your gallery, you will probably find a handful you immediately want to share.

Your gallery allows you to download versions suitable for sharing online, so you can easily post your favourites on social media.

For the best quality when sharing your photographs online, I recommend downloading them directly from your gallery rather than taking screenshots.

If you share them on Instagram, you can tag me at @princetakespictures. I always enjoy seeing which photographs couples end up choosing as their favourites.

COME BACK TO THEM

You do not have to do something with every photograph immediately.

Look through them on your first anniversary. Print another favourite a few years later. Show them to family. Change the photographs you have around your home. Come back to moments you had forgotten about.

The photographs that matter most to you might change over time. Shortly after the wedding, your favourites might be photographs of the two of you or the biggest moments from the day. Years later, a photograph of a relative, an old friend or everyone together might mean much more.

That is one of the reasons the smaller moments matter. Not every photograph needs to be something you would put on the wall. Sometimes its value is simply that it reminds you of a person or a moment you had almost forgotten.

ENJOY YOUR WEDDING PHOTOS

Receiving your gallery is only the beginning of enjoying your wedding photographs.

Download them, keep them safe, share them with the people you love, print your favourites and come back to them every now and then.

If you are planning your wedding and like the relaxed, natural way I photograph wedding days, I would love to hear what you have planned.
